ABOUT LUCY TIMMONS

My Story

I began my career as a teacher and theatre-maker, working with children and young people in challenging contexts. What fascinated me wasn’t just what children learned, but how they made meaning, how they found their voices and understood themselves through story and play.

Drama, for me, was never about performance. It was about identity, courage and the space between people where something real can happen.

I went on to become a senior leader and eventually an executive headteacher, responsible for multiple schools. From the outside it looked like success. From the inside, something felt deeply wrong.

Leadership had become about systems, compliance and control — not about people.

One day, standing in front of a struggling staff team, I stopped and asked:

Why are we here? Who are we really here to serve?

That moment changed everything.

Around the same time, I began working with a coach myself. For the first time in years, I had a space to think, feel and be honest — a Space Between where I could pause, experiment and choose differently.

When my son was born, something in me shifted. I knew I didn’t want to live, or lead, from fear any longer.

I left senior leadership and trained as a coach so I could work directly with people again, supporting leaders, teachers and teams to find their way back to what matters.

My work today is shaped by education, theatre, systems thinking and coaching psychology.

I believe people are more than their roles.
Teams are living systems.
Young people deserve environments that honour their humanity, lived experience, deep wisdom and creativity. Most of all, that let them be.

Leadership should create space, not fear.

Everything I do comes back to these beliefs.

If you’d like to think more clearly, work more honestly and create environments where people can thrive, please get in touch.
